    SATURDAY Dec 29

We are pleased to announce a second special Saturday to shoot steel at the range training bays.  On Saturday Dec 29 steel plates (knock ‘em down) will be set up for your enjoyment and practice.  Normal range fees apply but that’s it, NO additional charges!  The fun starts at 10 am and continues until 2 pm.

Sign in at the main range office to pay your normal fee (yes, you can shoot your rifle or paper targets that day as well on the main range). Just request a ticket to shoot steel plates at no additional charge!  You can do your own practice or challenge someone to a head to head shoot out!  Standard loads only – NO magnum or specialty rounds such as armor piercing, etc. allowed.  Any hand gun in rimfire or center fire may be used but please bring unloaded firearms in a bag or case.  This is so fun you’ll want  to bring lots of ammunition and magazines.

Eye and ear protection are mandatory.  NRA trained Range Safety Officers will be on duty.   There will be no organized steel plate matches for Dec.  If you have questions call Ron Majury at (360)904-3567.

Many of us use the Howard Leight Impact Sport electronic hearing protectors.  Over time the ear cushions get hard and don't seal well.  I found a good source for replacement cushions and foam liners.  FullSource  They carry a variety of industrial safety products.  The kit is:

Howard Leight Hygiene Kit for Impact Sport.  Cost is $7.25 plus $4.99 shipping.

That's the best price and cheapest shipping I could find, a good deal.  Makes sense to maintain the efficiency of our hearing protection.

It was a CLOSE match. There were 4 of you within about 3 shots of one another. I decided to record "number of shots taken" out of the 10 shots per string permitted, and that is what determined the WINNER of the match.

Please note that we had two shooters using OPEN Iron Sites. It was a Grandfather-Granddaughter team. The rifle was sited in for Grandpa. Otherwise the results might have been different....LOL.

It was a hot day but we had some really HOT SNIPERS...if you know what I mean.  They were all AWSOME!!!! We have had requests to return to the traditional TARGET SNIPER MATCH, which the Match Director said we would do the next time there is a SNIPER MATCH. That being 2 strings of 20 shots in 20 minutes (40 shot MATCH) at a 200 yard target. Bipods or other FRONT SIMPLE rests will be permitted...NO BUTT RESTS. No BENCHREST type of holders that allow adjustments. Just SIMPLE SUPPORTS!!!  Watch the Website for details of when the next MATCHES will be held.

Hey everyone, I am not sure how much people notice things, but one thing I notice is what a great job Bob Vavas has done since taking over maintaining the website from me.  Not only did it relieve me of another duty that I had on my plate, which I am very grateful for, but he has more time than I did to really devote himself to learning all of the functions possible with this great website software, and put them to use.

So thank you Bob, for all you are doing.  The site looks fantastic.  And if any of you see Bob at the range tell him that you too notice how good the website looks, and how much information is really there.  Actually, everything anyone needs to know about Redcliffs Rifle & Pistol Range and Association can be found on the website.

On Saturday April 22nd, 2017, we held two Bowling Pin Matches. Our morning match was held in the new bays. There were 26 entrants, 20 pistol and 6 rifle.

Our afternoon match was a Bowling Pin Sniper Match at 200 yards. This proved to be a very difficult task and truly tested your shooting skills. This was our first attempt at this type of Match and will need some revamping, as all new matches do.

The results from both Matches are posted on the "ALL MATCH RESULTS PAGE". Check it out and give it a try the next time we hold these Matches. This is a great time and lots of fun!!

This is an entry level Match geared to all levels of shooters from beginners to advanced. The only requirement is a Military Issue High Power Rifle with Iron Sites. There is a safety briefing before each match. The Match Director is Ken Fladrich, who has put on various Matches and Clinics for years in California through his gun shop the Armory of Orange.  He is now retired in St. George and wants to start these Matches up again for the the LOVE of the SPORT.

We have so far had five High Power Matches; in Nov & Dec 2016 and one Sniper Match in Jan 2017,Feb.25th, and an M-1 Garand Mar. 25th.  Results and photos of the Matches are posted on the website.  We all had fun at all the Matches.  Thus far these Matches are not CMP Certified but are in the works to be Certified. Currently the NON-Certified Matches are only $10 per shooter.  All proceeds are donated to the Red Cliffs Range. Future Matches are planned for once monthly usually on the 4th Saturday after range closure.  As interest increases we plan to have more M-1 Garand Matches and possibly a dedicated AR-15 Rifle Match. Next month's match will be on Saturday April 22nd and will be a 200 yard BOWLING PIN MATCH. Any gun, any sights, any position, no artificial supports except a sling. 10 shots for 6 bowling pins, repeated in 3 different lanes. EACH LANE TIMED INDIVIDUALLY!!!! 30 ROUNDS TOTAL.

Any inquiries can be addressed to Ken or Christine (McCarthy) Fladrich at  Hope to see you out there shooting and having fun increasing your knowledge and skill.
